Duterte at Xi sinaksihan ang paglagda sa 6 na kasunduan ng Pilipinas at China

Sinaksihan nina Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at President Xi Jinping ang paglagda sa anim na bagong kasunduan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at China.

Sa kanilang joint statement, nagpasalamat si Pangulong Duterte kay President Xi sa tulong ng China sa modernisasyon ng Department of National Defense (DND).

“Let us reaffirm the value of our relationship, both personal and official, as well as the trust and respect pursuant to mutual benefit that we have been building for the last three years,” pahayag ni Duterte sa kanyang opening statement.

Sa kanya namang panig ay sinabi ni Xi na masaya siyang muling makita ang isang “longtime friend.”

Ayon pa sa Chinese President, handa siyang makipag-tulungan kay Duterte.

Kapwa tiniyak ng dalawang lider ang patuloy na kooperasyon at mas malakas na diplomatic relations sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at China.

Kabilang sa mga kasunduan na pinirmahan ng mga kinatawan nina Duterte at Xi ang pagpondo sa South Long Haul Project ng Philippine National Railways (PNR) at isa pang pautang sa pagitan ng Department of Finance, Export-Import Bank of China at China International Development Cooperation Agency.

Mayroon ding dalawang kasunduan na pinasok ang Bureau of Customs na magpapalakas ng koordinasyon ng Chinese at Philippine customs authorities kabilang ang kontrata para sa “container inspection equipment.”

Nagkaroon din ng dalawang magkahiwalay na memoranda of understanding sa pagitan ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) at Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at kanilang counterparts sa China.

Samantala, walang impormasyon kung natalakay ni Duterte kay Xi ang arbitral ruling na una nitong sinabi na kanyang igigiit sa Chinese President gayundin ang kontrobersyal na Chinese online casinos na Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
