Niyanig ng magnitude 6.8 na lindol ang South Sandwich Islands.

Naitala ang pagyanig alas 7:56 ng umaga ngayong Miyerkules, Aug. 28 oras sa Pilipinas.

Sa datos ng US Geological Survey, 6.6 ang magnitude ng pagyanig.

May lalim na 116 kilometers ang lindol.

Agad namang pinawi ng Phivolcs ang pangamba ng tsunami bunsod ng malakas na lindol.

Ang South Sandwich Islands ay nasa southern Atlantic Ocean at overseas territory ng United Kingdom.
