Pangulong Duterte pinatatapos na sa militar ang rebelyon
Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa militar na tapusin na ang ilang dekadang rebelyon sa bansa.
Sa talumpati sa ika-31 anibersaryo ng Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) sa Quezon City, Martes ng gabi, sinabi ni Duterte na hindi niya maaatim na maipasa pa ang giyera laban sa mga rebelde sa susunod na henerasyon.
“I do not think that we can afford to wage a war another 53 years so I am telling the military, ‘Can we end it now?’ We cannot afford to pass it on to the next generation. Baka hindi na nila makaya. It has to be now,” ani Duterte.
Nagbabala ang pangulo sa publiko na magkakaroon ng kaunting kaguluhan sa bansa sa mga susunod na buwan sa layuning wakasan na agad ang rebelyon.
“I’m serving notice to everybody that in the coming months, it will be not really bloody, but there will be a little trouble. We have to finish it,” dagdag ng pangulo.
Magugunitang urong-sulong ang usapang pangkapayapaan ng gobyerno at mga rebeldeng komunista sa ilalim ng administrasyong Duterte.
Noong Marso, inanunsyo ng pangulo ang pormal na pagsasara sa posibilidad ng pagpapatuloy ng peace talks sa Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), at sinabihan ang mga ito na makipag-usap na lamang sa susunod na presidente.
Ang pagkansela sa peace talks ay dahil sa paulit-ulit na pag-atake ng New People’s Army.
