Pilipinas nanatili sa ‘white list’ ng International Maritime Organization

Napanatili ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at ng Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) ang magandang status ng bansa sa “White List” ng International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Sa isinagawang 101st session, kinumpirma ng International Maritime Organization (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee na nakatugon ang Pilipinas sa mga itinakda ng probisyon ng Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).

Ayon kay MARINA OIC-Administrator Vice Admiral Narciso Vingson Jr., ang patuloy na pagkakasama ng Pilipinas sa IMO White List ay kumpirmasyon na ginagawa ng pamahalaan ang lahat upang makapag-profuce ng globally-competent Filipino seafarers.

Kabilang dito ang pagpapaigting sa maritime education, training, assessment, at certification system.

Kasabay nito ay hinamon ni Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade ang MARINA na tiyakin ang patuloy na pagtugon ng bansa sa international maritime standards.
