NBI binigyan ng hanggang katapusan para sa alleged terror plot report
Binigyan ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ng hanggang katapusan ng Agosto para magsumite ng initial report ukol sa umano’y banta ng terorismo sa Northern Luzon.
Ipinag-utos ni Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra sa NBI ang pag-validate sa impormasyong natanggap ng Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na plano umanong atakihin ng Islamic State ang ilang Northern Luzon Catholic churches.
“I will give the NBI as much time as needed to validate, if not neutralize, this threat. I will direct the agency to submit an initial report before the end of this month,” ani Guevarra.
Ayon kay Guevarra, tulad ng iligal na droga, sineseryoso ng DOJ ang mga impormasyon ukol sa terorismo dahil sa nagdudulot ito ng takot at pangamba sa publiko.
“Terrorism, like illegal drugs, is topmost priority for the Department of Justice (DOJ) due to its violent nature and the widespread fear and anxiety that it brings to the general public,” dagdag ng kalihim.
Napaulat na mahigpit na binabantayan na ngayon ng militar ang Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Manaoag, Pangasinan at Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Samantala, sa isang panayam, sinabi Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde na wala pang tiyak na ebidensyang nagkukumpirma na planong umatake ng IS at mga kaugnay na grupo sa Northern Luzon.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ni Albayalde na ipinag-utos na rin sa police commanders sa Northern Luzon ang paghihigpit sa security measures.
Payo ni Albayalde sa publiko, huwag matakot kung mas maraming pulis na ang namamataan ngayon sa mga kalsada.
