Karapatan sa West PH Sea igigiit ni Duterte kay Xi
Sa kanilang muling pagkikita, tatlong bagay ang nais igiit ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay Chinese Pres. Xi Jinping.
Una na rito ang karapatan ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea kabilang ang exclusive economic zone (EEZ) ng bansa.
Tatalakayin ng Pangulo kay Xi ang pagpabor ng Arbitral court sa Pilipinas kaugnay ng maritime rights sa West Philippine Sea.
“So I’d talk about the arbitral ruling itself, and then the Code of Conduct and yung other side yung mga marine resources, let us first be sure that we have the access. And I’m most interested in the exploitation of the natural resources,” ani Duterte.
Nais ding malaman ni Duterte mula sa Chinese President kung bakit tila dine-delay ang pagkakaroon ng Code of Conduct sa mga bansang nag-aagawan sa mga teritoryo sa rehiyon.
“I said that is why I’m going there, they are delaying it and it’s causing so many incidents and one day it will no, one mistake, miscalculation there and mahirap na bawiin.”
Noong Hunyo ay ipinarating ni Duterte sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit sa Thailand ang kanyang pag-aalala at pagkadismaya sa pagkabalam ng Code of Conduct.
Isa pa sa nakatakdang ilatag ng Pangulo kay Xi ang posibleng joint exploration ng mga likas na yaman sa West Philippine Sea.
Walang nakitang mali si Duterte sa panukala ni Xi na hatiin ang oil resources sa West Philippine Sea at interesado ang Pangulo sa hatiang 60-40 pabor sa bansa.
“…they have proposed a 60 40 okay na yun para sa akin. But that could be a later topic if we have time…Of course, 60 in favor of our country,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Una nang nagkaroon ng memorandum of understanding (MOU) ang dalawang bansa ukol sa oil at gas exploration sa pagbisita ni Xi sa Pilipinas noong nakaraang taon.
Muling bibisita si Duterte sa China sa huling bahagi ng buwan ng Agosto.
