Smuggled agri-products mula sa China nasabat sa MICP

Nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang limang shipment na naglalaman ng iba’t ibang hindi naideklarang agri-product mula sa China.

Ayon sa ahensya, nagmula ang kargamento na nagkakahalaga ng P24 million sa China.

Dumating ang mga kontrabando sa Manila International Container Port (MICP) sa magkakahiwalay na petsa noong buwan ng Hulyo.

Base sa isinagawang x-ray at physical inspection, naglalaman ang kargamento ng mga mansanas, orange, peras ngunit ang totoong laman nito ay mga carrot, sibuyas at patatas.

Nagkakahalaga ang mga nasabat na carrots ng P15 million, sibuyas na P4 million at patatas na P5 million.

Apat sa limang kargamento ay naka-consign sa Ingredient Management Asia Incorporated habang ang isa naman ay sa Mc.Rey International Trading.

Mahaharap ang mga ito sa kasong paglabag sa Sections 1400, 1113, at 117 ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, Republic Act 3720 o Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act at Republic Act 10845 o Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016.
