CBCP nagkasa ng nationwide prayer para sa mga inuusig na pari, obispo

Umapela si Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President at Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles ng panalangin para sa mga miyembro ng kaparian na sinampahan ng kasong sedition.

Sa isang liham pastoral, sinabi ni Valles na walang dudang inosente ang mga inaakusahang obispo at pari ngunit kailangan ng mga ito ng suporta sa kinahaharap na pagsubok.

“I also said that pray for my brother bishops; this will be a very distressing situation for them, to say the least. I pray that they may remain calm and confident that in the end, they will be found innocent. I make this prayer to the Lord, with the Blessed Mother as our intercessor,” ani Valles.

Ang panalangin ay ipinanawagan ng arsobispo bago ang nakatakdang imbestigasyon kina Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Bishops Pablo Virgilio David, Honesto Ongtioco, Teodoro Bacani at tatlo pang pari.

Nais ni Valles na ialay para sa intensyon ng mga obispo ang mga misa sa August 6, Feast of the Transfiguration at August 15, Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary.

“Let us pray for them, include them in our reflection and homilies, in the prayers of the faithful,” ayon kay Valles.

Sa August 9 itinakda ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang preliminary investigation sa mga kasong isinampa laban sa kaparian at mga miyembro ng oposisyon kabilang si Vice President Leni Robredo.

Nais din ni Valles na maisama sa panalangin ang mga nasa gobyerno na hahawak ng kaso upang magabayan ang mga ito ng katotohanan at hustisya.

“Let us not forget to include in our prayers, during the abovementioned special days, the people in government who are involved in the processes regarding the cases filed against these bishops. We pray to the Lord for them, with the intercession of the Blessed Mother, that a deep sense of fairness, justice and truth will guide them,” dagdag ni Valles.
