Palasyo sa muling paggamit ng Dengvaxia: ‘Not yet final’
Hindi pa isinasapinal ang muling paggamit sa Dengvaxia vaccine ayon sa Palasyo ng Malacañang.
Sa pahayag araw ng Biyernes, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo na bagaman bukas ang gobyerno sa muling pagagamit sa kontrobersyal na bakuna para masolusyonan ang tumaas na kaso ng dengue, dapat munang ikonsidera ang opinyon ng World Health Organization (WHO) at mga medical experts.
Ayaw na anya nilang maulit ang mga mali ng nakaraan sa hindi tamang paggamit sa Dengvaxia para sa political agenda.
“Nothing is final yet but we vow that we will not repeat the mistakes of the past, where Dengvaxia was allegedly misused and mishandled in aid of political election with haste,” ani Panelo.
“A possible revival of the use of this vaccine must be done with utmost caution by considering the opinion of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other medical experts who opine, among others, that the same should be given only to those who already had prior dengue experience,” dagdag ni Panelo.
Bukas din anya ang gobyerno sa protocol na itinakda ng WHO na nagrerekomenda sa “pre-vaccination screening strategy” para sa mga bansang gumagamit ng Dengvaxia.
Ayon sa kalihim, kapag napatunayang epektibo ang Dengvaxia sa mga nagkaroon na ng dengue ay siguradong mapapababa nito ang kabuuang bilang ng kaso ng sakit sa bansa.
Tiniyak ni Panelo na isasantabi ng gobyerno ang pulitika sa pagsusuri kung dapat na maipagpatuloy ang paggamit ng Dengvaxia.
“Politics must be set aside when the health of the citizenry is in peril. This Administration will not sit idly and expect that a health concern will be resolved without any action on its part,” giit ni Panelo.
