Tatlong lugar sa El Nido, Palawan ang idineklara ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) na “no swim zones.”
Ayon kay Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, hindi na pwedeng mag-swimming sa dalawang lugar sa Bacuit Bay at sa isang lugar sa Corong-Corong Bay.
Ang hakbang ng DENR ay dahil sa mataas na lebel ng fecal coliform, isang uri ng bacteria na galing sa dumi ng tao at hayop.
“We will continue the no-swimming areas in the 3 outfalls in Bacuit Bay, and one in Corong-Corong,” ani Cimatu.
Tiniyak naman ng Kalihim na hindi isasara ang El Nido gaya ng Boracay pero ang desisyon anya ay tuloy ang rehabilitasyon.
Ipapatupad ang swimming ban sa mga dalampasigan sa Barangays Buena Suerte, Masagana at Corong-Corong.
Una rito ay sinabi ni Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat na umabot sa 3.448 million units ang fecal bacteria levels sa El Nido gayung ang standard lamang ay 100 units.
Binigyan ng siyam na buwan ang mga establisyimento sa El Nido para sumunod sa environmental requirements.
Sinabi ni Cimatu na mula August 5 hanggang Augsut 25 ay mag-iikot sa lugar ang mga opisyal ng ahensya para alamin ang mga establisyimento na lumabag sa batas.
