MMDA: Provincial bus ban sa EDSA ipatutupad na sa Agosto
Nakatakda nang ipatupad ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) sa Agosto ang provincial bus ban sa EDSA.
Ito ay matapos amyendahan ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang ruta ng mga bumabyaheng bus sa Metro Manila.
Ayon kay MMDA traffic chief Bong Nebrija, hinihintay na lamang ang pag-apruba ng local government units (LGUs) sa bagong scheme.
“That’s what we have been waiting for because the LTFRB is in charge of the franchise routes of public utility vehicles. We will implement the policy anytime next month. We are just waiting for the approval of the local government units (LGUs),” ani Nebrija.
Sinabi ni Nebrija na ngayong araw ay pupulungin ang Metro Manila Mayors sa MMDA office sa Makati para pag-usapan ang provincial bus ban.
Una rito, himimok ng MMDA ang mga alkalde na bawiin at ihinto ang business permits ng mga provincial bus terminals sa kahabaan ng EDSA.
Sa pag-amyenda ng LTFRB sa ruta ng provincial buses sa Metro Manila, ang provincial buses mula sa norte at may terminal sa EDSA ay hanggang sa interim terminal na lang sa Valenzuela City.
Ang mga bus mula Southern Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao naman na may terminal sa EDSA-Cubao ay gagamitin na ang bagong terminal sa Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.
Habang ang provincial buses na may terminal sa Pasay ay hanggang sa Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange na lamang.
Nanindigan ang MMDA na ipatutupad ang provincial bus ban maliban kung ideklara itong iligal ng Korte Suprema.
May tatlong nakabinbing petisyon sa SC para ideklarang null and void ang traffic reduction scheme.
