Red Cross tutulong sa gobyerno sa kampanya kontra dengue
Nagpahayag ng suporta ang Philippine Red Cross (PRC) sa kampanya ng Department of Health (DOH) laban sa pagkalat ng nakamamatay na dengue.
Ayon kay PRC chairman at Sen. Richard Gordon, agad niyang ipinag-utos ang deployment ng emergency medical tents sa Iloilo kung saan nagsisiksikan na ang mga natamaan ng dengue.
“PRC’s medical tents will help decongest the overloaded wards and provide comfort to patients and their families. Similar to how we addressed the measles crisis earlier this year, we will continue to work with the DOH to identify and address the needs in the most affected communities,” ani Gordon.
Magugunitang noong nakaraang linggo ay idineklara ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III ang national dengue alert dahil sa lubhang pagtaas ng kaso ng dengue sa ilang rehiyon.
Lagpas na sa epidemic threshold ang kaso ng dengues sa Western at Central Visayas, at Northern Mindanao.
Binabantayan naman sa dengue outbreak ang CALABARZON, Cagayan Valley, BARMM, Davao, Eastern Visayas, Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative Region at Zamboanga Peninsula.
Ayon kay Gordon, apat na set ng emergency medical tents ang dinala sa Iloilo mula sa PRC warehouse sa Subic.
Handa pa umano ang PRC na magpadala pa ng maraming tents sa Western Visayas kung kinakailangan.
Bukod sa medical tents, tiniyak din ni Gordon na may suplay ng dugo para sa dengue patients mula sa blood centers ng PRC sa Iloilo at mga kalapit na blood service facilities.
Palalakasin din ng Red Cross ang kanilang information dissemination drive sa pamamagitan ng community health volunteers.
Pinayuhan naman ni Gordon ang publiko na pairalin ang 4s kontra dengue o ang search and destroy, self-protect, seek early consultation at say yes to fogging.
