Pinayagan na ng Department of Transportation o DOTr ang mga hatchback na sasakyan na mag-operate bilang pampublikong transportasyon.
Ipinag-utos nito sa Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na ipatupad ang LTFRB Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 2018-005.
Nakasaad sa nasabing memorandum circular na makakapag-operate ang mga hatchback sa loob lamang ng Metro Manila at maningil ng murang pamasahe at epektibo ito sa loob ng tatlong taong na transition period.
Nakapaloob din sa nasabing kautusan na papayagan lang ang mga hatchback units na kasama sa 55,000 units na nasa masterlist at nagsumite ng application noong March 5 hanggang December 15, 2018.
Pahayag ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, lahat ito ay binabalanse at inaayos para sa kapakanan ng mga commuter.
