189 local government officials tinanggalan ng police powers
Umabot na sa 189 local chief executives ang tinanggalan ng police powers simula nang maupo sa pwesto si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong July 2016 ayon sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Ayon kay DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, inalisan ng police powers ang mga opisyal dahil sa sinasabing ugnayan ng mga ito sa iligal na droga, kabiguang tuldukan ang terorismo at maging pagsuporta sa mga teroristang grupo.
Sa 189, walo ang gobernador habang 181 ang alkalde.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni Malaya na ilan sa mga lokal na opisyal ay wala na sa pwesto makaraang matalo sa nagdaang eleksyon.
Ayon sa DILG official, ang mga 189 na local executives ay hindi na makakapamili ng sariling chief of police, makakapag-utos ng law enforcement operations at hindi na makapamumuno sa peace and order council.
