Nagdeklara na ang Department of Health (DOH) ng “national dengue alert” kasunod ng muli na namang pagtaas sa bilang ng mga nagkaroon ng nasabing sakit na mula sa mga kagat ng lamok.
Sinabi ni DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III na mula noong January 1 hanggang June 29, 2019, ay umakyat na sa 106,630 dengue cases ang naitala nationwide.
Nangangahulugan ito ng 85 percent increase mula sa bilang na 57,564 cases na naitala sa kahalintulad na panahon noong nakalipas na taon.
Ang dengus ay mula sa kagat ng babaeng Aedes aegypti mosquito na siyang nagdadala ng nasabing virus.
“This is the first time that we’re declaring a national alert. Because the objective is very clear. We want to raise awareness among the public and more importantly, in communities where signs of early dengue increases are evident,” ayon pa kay Duque.
Nilinaw naman ng kalihim na wala silang idinedeklarang national epidemic dahil localized ang pag-akyat sa bilang ng mga nagkakaroon ng dengue.
Dagdag pa ni Duque, “We don’t have a national epidemic. It’s localized. As I have mentioned, the top among the regions would be Western Visayas, followed by Calabarzon, Central Visayas, Soccsksargen and Northern Mindanao. There is no national epidemic but there is certainly regional.”
Nakatutok ngayon ang DOH sa pagmo-monitor sa mga sumusunod na lugar: Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao at Cordillera Administrative Region.
