Resolusyon para imbestigahan ang human rights situation sa bansa inayunan ng UNHRC
Pinagtibay ng United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) ang resolusyon na humihikayat na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa human rights situation sa bansa.
Sa deliberasyon ng 41st session sa Geneva, umaabot sa 18 mula sa kabuuang members states ang bumoto pabor sa resolusyon na nauna nang isinumite ng Iceland.
Inaatasan nito si Human Rights Commissioner Michelle Bachelet na maghanda ng“comprehensive written report” ng human rights situation sa Pilipinas.Napag-alaman rin na 14 member-states ang bumoto ng No samantalang 15 naman ang nag-abstain.
“The draft resolution called on the Philippine government to “take all necessary measures to prevent extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances” and to conduct “impartial investigations and to hold perpetrators accountable in accordance with international norms and standards including due process and the rule of law,” ayon sa pahayag ng UNHRC.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Malacanang na walang karapatan ng grupo na manghimasok sa panloob na pamamahala sa bansa.
Sinabi rin ng Malacanang na tuloy ang kampanya ng pamahalaan laban sa iligal na droga.
Kabilang sa mga bansang kumatig sa Iceland resolution ay ang Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, Sweden, at United Kingdom.
Sinabi naman ni Foreign Affairs Sec. Teddy Locsin na mali ang interpretasyon ng nasabing mga bansa sa kalagayan ng human rights sa bansa dahil sa maling impormasyon ang ikinarga sa draft resolution ng Iceland.
