Patay ang isang miyembro ng Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) matapos makasagupa ng mga operating units ng Marine Battalion Landing Team 8 (MBLT-8) alas-8:10 ng umaga (December 22) sa bahagi ng Barangay Liang, Patikul, Sulu.

Narekober ng mga sundalo sa nasabing engkwentro ang limang matataas na kalibre ng armas at mga bala.

Kabilang sa mga nakuha na high-powered firearms kabilang ang M1 garand, M14, M16 na may M203, M4 na may M203, M79 grenade launcher, dalawang motorsiklo at iba’t-ibang uri ng mga bala.

Ayon kay Joint Task Group Sulu Commander B/Gen. Alan Arrojado, nagsasagawa ng combat at security patrol ang mga tauhan Philippine Marines nang makasagupa nila ang bandidong grupo.

Wala namang naiulat na casualty sa panig ng pamahalaan.
