Vatican tinanggal ang ‘immunity’ ng France envoy na inaakusahan ng sexual assault

Tinanggal ng Vatican ang immunity para sa envoy nito sa France na kasalukuyang iniimbestigahan kaugnay ng sexual assault.

Inaakusahan si Archbishop Luigi Ventura, 74 anyos ng panghihipo sa isang junior male official na nagtatrabago sa Paris city hall.

Kinumpirma ng French government na natanggap nito ang kumpirmasyon mula sa Santo Papa na nagtatanggal sa immunity para kay Ventura.

Ayon kay Vatican press office interim director Alessandro Gisotti, ang desisyon ay nagpapakita lamang na ‘commited’ si Ventura na makilahok sa imbestigasyon.

“This is an extraordinary gesture that confirms the will of the Nuncio (ambassador), expressed from the beginning of this situation, to collaborate fully with the French judicial authorities,” ani Gisotti.

Nasa Paris si Ventura taon pang 2009 bilang papal nuncio o envoy ng Santo Papa.
