Inihayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na sinibak niya sa pwesto si Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president Jesus Clint Aranas kahit sinabi ng Malakanyang na nagbitiw ito dahil sa personal na dahilan.
Sa kanyang talumpati sa Alangalang, Leyte araw ng Biyernes, sinabi ng Pangulo na tinutugunan niya ang kurapsyon kaya tinanggal niya si Aranas.
“I will deal with corruption. I’m dealing with it until now. I just fired the president of GSIS,” ani Duterte sa inagurasyon ng Chen Yi Agventures Rice Processing Complex.
Unang naiulat na kinompronta ng Pangulo si Aranas sa cabinet meeting noong Lunes.
Inakusahan ni Duterte si Aranas na sinungaling nang sabihin nito na hindi umano nagbabayad ng renta ang Enrique Razon-led International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI).
Nang tanungin naman sa press briefing kung sinabihan ng Pangulo si Aranas na mag-resign, sumagot si Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo ng hindi.
