Mahigit 600 kilo ng imported na pork products mula sa bansang Poland at Belgium ang kinumpiska sa Cebu City port.
Alinsunod ito sa kautusan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) sa pagpapatupad ng ban sa pag-aangkat ng mga pork meat sa mga bansang apektado ng African Swine Fever (ASF).
Ayon kay City veterinary office chief Alice Utlang, ang 260 kilos ng frozen pork mula sa Poland ay inangkat ng kompanyang Enzo Meat Products habang ang 378 kilos ng pork cutting fat mula sa Belgium ay naka-consign naman sa EN Asia Import Export Corporation.
Ang mga produkto ay agad na kinumpiska at sinunog para hindi na maibenta o maipakalat pa.
Nahaharap sa kaukulang parusa ang mga kompanyang nag-angkat ng nasabing produkto.
Ang temporary ban ay ipinatutupad sa mga pork meat mula sa Belgium, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia at kamakailan lang ay nadagdag sa listahan ang Laos.
