Duque kinasuhan ng graft dahil sa PhilHealth rental issue
Sinampahan ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III ng kasong graft at plunder dahil sa umanoy pagpayag sa PhilHealth na mag-renta sa provincial office nito na pag-aari ng kanyang pamilya.
Ayon sa reklamo ng mga magulang ng umanoy mga biktima ng Dengvaxia, si Duque ang PhilHealth ex-officio chairman nang maganap umano ang krimen.
Inakusaha ang kalihim ng paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials at Act Defining and Penalizing the Crime of Plunder.
“Being the Secretary of Health and the Ex-officio chairman of Philhealth, both public positions, respondent Dr. Duque III cannot enter into a contract, directly or indirectly, which would cause undue injury to the government,” pahayag ng complainants sa kanilang joint affidavit na inihain sa Office of the Ombudsman.
Pinagbatayan ng reklamo ang rebelasyon ni Sen. Panfilo Lacson na pag-aari ng pamilya ni Duque ang Educational and Medica; Development Corp. building sa Dagupan, Pangasinan kung saan naroon ng PhilHealth Office.
Sinabi naman ni Duque na matapos ang ibinunyag ni Lacson ay hindi na siya nakialam sa transaksyon ng PhilHealth sa EMDC.
Katwiran pa ng Kalihim, naging EMDC chief executive officer noong 2015, tatlong taon matapos magsimulang magrenta ang PhilHealth at nagbitiw na umano siya sa naturang korporasyon.
