Del Rosario ipoprotesta ang kabiguan ng HK na irespeto ang kanyang diplomatic passport
Pinag-aaralan ni dating Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario ang posibleng paghahain ng diplomatic protest kaugnay ng kabiguan ng mga otoridad ng Hong Kong na igalang ang kanyang diplomatic passport.
Ito ay matapos harangin at hindi papasukin si Del Rosario sa Hong Kong kahit diplomatic passport ang hawak nito.
Ayon kay Del Rosario, iminungkahi ng DFA na tingnan ang posibilidad na iprotesta ang kabiguan ng Hong Kong na kilalanin ang hawak niyang pasaporte na anyay paglabg sa Vienna convention.
“I’ve also received a suggestion the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) that we should look into the possibility of protesting the failure of the Hong Kong authorities to respect the diplomatic passport and this would be a violation of the Vienna convention,” pahayag ni Del Rosario pagdating sa bansa matapos na hindi patuluyin sa Hong Kong.
Ang tinutukoy ng dating kalihim ay ang Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations na adopted noong 1961.
Ito ang treaty na tumutukoy sa international law on diplomatic intercourse, privileges and immunities.
Pero hindi pa sinabi ni Del Rosario kung saan nito ihahain ang protesta.
Makikipag-pulong muna anya siya kay dating Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales para talakayin ang detalye ng diplomatic protest.
Matatandaan na noong Marso ay naghain sina Del Rosario at Morales ng communication laban kay Chinese President Xi Jinping sa International Criminal Court (ICC) dahil sa isyu sa West Philippine Sea.
Bago kay Del Rosario ay hinarang at hanggang airport rin lang sa Hong Kong si Morales noong May 21.
