Carpio sa mga kabataan: Ipagpatuloy ang pagtatanggol sa WPS
Hinamon ni Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio ang mga kabataan na ipagtanggol ang karapatan ng bansa sa West Philippine Sea kasama ang Recto Bank.
Sa oath of office ni Kabataan Partylist Rep. Sarah Elago sa Supreme Court, Miyerkules ng hapon, sinabi ni Carpio na ang West Philippine Sea ay pagmamay-ari ng bansa at ng susunod na henerasyon kabilang na ng mga kabataan.
Nararapat lamang ayon sa mahistrado na ilatag ng mga kabataan ang pundasyon upang mapangalagaan ang mga teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea kabilang na ang mga likas na yaman nito.
Ang pahayag ni Carpio ay sa gitna ng kontrobersiya sa pagbangga ng isang Chinese vessel sa bangkang pangisda ng mga Filipino.
“My generation laid the foundation by winning the arbitral ruling. The West Philippine Sea belongs to the Philippines and the next generation, including your generation, must build on these foundations so that our exclusive economic zone in the West Philippine Sea will belong truly to the Filipinos and all the resources there, the fish, oil and gas resources will be enjoyed exclusively by Filipino citizens, including Reed Bank because that’s part of our EEZ,” ani Carpio.
Una rito, sinabi ni Carpio na posibleng isang militia ship sa ilalim ng Chinese Navy ang bumangga sa bangkang pangisda ng mga Filipino.
