Pope Francis idineklarang ‘venerable’ ang isang madreng Filipina

Idineklarang ‘venerable’ o kapintu-pintuho ni Pope Francis ang madreng Filipina na si Maria Beatriz del Rosario Arroyo.

Kinumpirma ng Congregation for the Causes of Saints sa Vatican na namuhay ng may ‘heroic virtues’ ang madre.

Dahil dito, dalawang proseso na lamang ang hihintayin upang ideklarang santo si Mother Arroyo.

Kakailanganin ang isang milagro upang maging beato ang madre at isa pa para maging ganap na santo.

Sakaling maaprubahan ang Cause for Sainthood ni Mother Arroyo, siya ang magiging kauna-unahang Filipinang santo.

Si Mother Arroyo ang nagtatag sa Congregation of Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary sa Pilipinas.

Ipinanganak ang madre noong 1884 sa may kayang pamilya sa Iloilo City ngunit piniling mamuhay nang simple at itinuon ang kanyang buhay sa pagsisilbi sa mahihirap.

Namatay siya sa heart failure noong 1957.

Si Mother Arroyo ay great, great, grandaunt ni dating first gentleman Mike Arroyo.

Sa ngayon ay may dalawang Filipino na santo: sina Lorenzo Ruiz at Pedro Calungsod.
