Pagdinig sa mga petisyon laban sa substitution ni Cardema simula na ngayong araw
Magsisimula na ngayong araw ang pagdinig ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa mge petisyon na inihain laban sa substitution bid ni dating National Youth Commission chair Ronald Cardema para maging nominee ng Duterte Youth partylist.
Ang substitute nominee ay ang magiging kinatawan ng partylist sa Kamara matapos magwagi ng pwesto sa nagdaang May 13 elections.
Ayon kay Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, inimbitahan sina Cardema at ang mga grupong naghain ng petisyon na dumalo ng pagdinig.
Sinabi ni Guanzon na dapat dumalo si Cardema upang maigiit ang dahilan kung bakit hindi siya dapat madiskwalipika.
“How can he prove he (should not be) disqualified if he does not appear and testify?” ani Guanzon.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Veteran election lawyer na si George Garcia na ang respondents sa kaso ay maaaring hindi dumalo sa Comelec hearings at maaaring maglabas na lamang ang mga ito ng special power of attorney na ibibigay sa korte.
Pero, ang pagdalo ng respondent ay makatutulong anya dahil madedepensahan nito ang sarili.
Ang mga grupong tumutol sa substitution bid ni Cardema ay ang ontra Daya, National Union of Students of the Philippines, College Editors Guild, Youth Act Now Against Tyranny, Student Regent of the University of the Philippines System, Tindig-University of Santo Tomas at Millennials PH.
Giit ng mga grupo, si Cardema na 34 anyos ay lampas na sa maximum age na 30 anyos upang maging representante ng grupo.
