PIA Dir. Gen. Harold Clavite, iniimbestigahan ng PCOO dahil sa korupsyon
Iniimbestigahan na ng Presidential Communications Office (PCOO) si Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Harold Clavite.
Ayon kay PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, ito ay dahil sa isyu ng korupsyon na kinasasangkutan ni Clavite.
Sinabi naman ni PCOO Undersecretary for legal affairs Marvin Gatpayat na pinadalhan na ng sulat si Clavite para pagpaliwanagin sa isyu.
Ayon kay Gatpayat, pinagpapaliwanag si Clavite sa kwestyunableng procurement ng ‘Asean Komiks’ pati na ang umano’y malversation ng public funds para sa hotel accommodation.
Kinukwestyun din kay Clavite ang irregularity sa produksyon ng information, education at communication materials para sa employees compensation program at pag-ere ng “Like Pinas.”
Binibigyan si Clavite ng hanggang June 13 para magpaliwanag.
Sa pahayag ni Clavite sa Radyo Inquirer, sinabi nito na kaniyang sasagutin ang naturang alegasyon sa proper forum.
Ayon kay Clavite, kung naipadala na sa Ombudsman ang reklamo, wala nang hurisdiksyon ang PCOO kaugnay sa mga reklamo laban sa kanya.
Sa ngayon, sinabi ni Clavite na hihintayin niya ang official communication mula sa Ombudsman.
“I will answer in the proper forum when the time comes. If a complaint was indeed sent to the Ombudsman, then the PCOO does not have jurisdiction over those complaints. I will wait for an official communication from the Ombudsman on the matter,” pahayag ni Clavite.
Ayon kay Clavite, walang basehan ang reklamong inihain sa kanya at bahagi lamang ito ng demolition job dahil sa financial at organizational reform na kanyang ipinatupad sa PIA noong 2016.
“This is part of a demolition job being done against me because of the financial and organizational reforms that I have instituted in the Agency since I took office in 2016. I have sought the intervention of COA and the Office of the Executive Secretary through PCOO on these matters in April and May 2019 and some disgruntled people are trying to reverse them by publicly painting a negative picture of me and maligning my person and authority,” ani Clavite.
Marami aniya ang nasaktan sa kaniyang mga reporma matapos mabunyag ang iregularidad sa financial process sa PIA.
“All these emanated from an internal fact-finding inquiry that I created in September 2018 and apparently, some people were hurt when I started checking and found out there have been several irregularities in financial processes,” pahayag pa nito.
Ipinakita pa ni Clavite sa Radyo Inquirer ang clearance mula sa Ombudsman na may petsang May 21, 2019 na wala siyang pending na anumang criminal o administrative case na nakabinbin sa anti-graft body.
“We checked with them on May 21 and there is no pending case against me. The allegations are baseless and unsubstantiated,” ayon kay Clavite.
