DPWH nagtayo ng bagong flood control structure sa bahagi ng Marikina River

Natapos na ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang konstruksyon ng bagong has flood control structure sa right bank ng of Marikina River sa Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

Layunin ng proyekto na maprotektahan ang mga residente sa pagbaha.

Ayon kay DPWH Sec. Mark Villar, ang P93-million project ay kinapaluuban ng konstruksiyon ng 152-linear meter river wall na may slope protection, reinforced concrete structures at riprap at masonry work sa may bahagi ng Vista Real Subdivision, Phase II.

Ang Labin’dalawang metrong taas na slope protection na pinangasiwaan ng DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) ay mahalagang bahagi ng Pasig Marikina River Channel Improvement Project na naglalayong maiwasan ang pag-apaw ng ilog at pagbaha.

Matatandaan na noong 2009 isinailalim ang Metro Manila at tatlumpu pang mga lalawigan sa State Of calamity dahil sa pananalasa ng bagyong Ondoy na nagpalubog sa malaking bahagi ng Metro Manila partikular na sa lungsod ng Marikina.
