P20M halaga ng sigarilyo ipinuslit sa Zamboanga City

Nakumpiska ang nasa 500 na kahon ng mga sigarilyo sa Zamboanga City nitong nagdaang weekend.

Ayon sa Bureau of Customs (BOC), nakuha ang mga sigarilyo na walang importation documents sa Danny Udin Salasain Wharf Compound sa Arena Blanco sa Zamboanga City noong araw ng Sabado, May 25.

Tinatayang nagkakahalaga ang mga sigarilyo ng mahigit P20 milyon.

Sinabi ng BOC na posibleng nanggaling ang mga sigarilyo sa Malaysia o Indonesia at dinaan sa Tawi-Tawi o Sulu.

Hindi naman nakasaad sa mga kahon ang pangalan at address ng consignee nito.

Sa ngayon, ang mga sigarilyo ay nasa kustodiya na ng BOC-Zamboanga para sa inventory, paglabas ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention at paghatol dahil sa hindi pagkakaroon nito ng National Tobacco Administration (NTA) permit.

Lumabag din ito sa Executive Order No. 245 o Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Exportation and Importation of Tobacco and Tobacco Products at Section 117 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act of 2016.
