Kinilala ng Philippine Army ang mga sundalong nasawi sa limang buwang gulo sa Marawi City.
Kasabay ito ng paggunita sa ikalawang taong anibersaryo ng Marawi siege, ang giyera sa pagitan ng tropa ng gobyerno at Maute Group.
Nagtipon para sa isang seremonya araw ng Huwebes ang mga aktibo at retiradong opisyal at tauhan ng militar sa Marawi Pylon ng Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Ayon kay Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto, hindi makakalimutan ang mga sundalong nagbuwis ng buhay sa paglaban sa mga terorista.
“The Marawi siege will forever be etched in the minds of all Filipinos that the resiliency and determination of our soldiers prevailed over forces who are bent on destroying our democratic foundations. It is only fitting that we remember their bravery such that future generations can look back and see what sacrifice and patriotism truly mean,” ani Alberto.
Nagsama-sama ang mga sundalo at kaanak ng mga nasawing sundalo sa isang picnic matapos ang seremonya.
Ang gulo sa Marawi ay nag-iwan ng 1,000 kataong patay kabilang ang 165 na mga sundalo.
