Obispo nanawagan ng hustisya para sa pinatay na OFW sa Kuwait
Nanawagan ng hustisya si Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos para sa pinatay na overseas Filipino worker (OFW) sa Kuwait na si Constancia Dayag.
Hinimok ni Bishop Santos ang gobyerno na gawin ang lahat para mapanagot ang employer ng OFW.
“Our government officials should not stop until the guilty is punished by law, and justice for Constancia is done,” ani Santos.
Nagpahayag din ng pagkadismaya ang obispo sa kabiguan ng gobyerno ng Kuwait na maprotektahan ang OFW.
“She has not been protected, and so it was a failure on their part and clear violation of signed agreement,” giit ng obispo.
Bunsod ng insidente, nanawagan si Bishop Santos sa mga bagong mambabatas na bumuo ng mga batas na poprotekta sa mga karapatan ng mga OFWs.
Bukod dito ay hinimok rin ng obispo ang mga mambabatas na gumawa ng mga batas na bubuo ng mas maraming trabaho sa bansa upang hindi na umalis pa ang mga Filipino.
“For our newly elected government officials, you can do a great service to our OFW if you can craft laws that will protect and promote their rights,” ayon sa obispo.
Ang pagkamatay ni Dayag ay pangalawa na sa kontrobersyal na pagkamatay ng OFWs sa Kuwait matapos matagpuan ang walang buhay na si Joana Demafelis sa loob ng freezer.
