DND umaasang aaprubahan ng Senado ang mandatory ROTC

Nagpahayag ng kasiyahan si Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana sa pag-apruba ng Kamara sa mandatory Reserved Officers Training Corps Program (ROTC) sa senior high school students.

Sa pahayag araw ng Lunes, sinabi ni Lorenzana na umaasa siyang ipapasa rin ng Senado ang panukala upang maipatupad ito sa darating na taong panuruan.

“I am greatly delighted by the passage of the ROTC bill in the House. Hopefully, the Senate will also pass it during this Congress so we can start implementing it this coming school year,” ani Lorenzana.

Nagpasalamat ang DND sa mga mambabatas at sinabing ang pagbabalik ng mandatory ROTC ay makatutulong para pag-alabin sa mga mag-aaral ang kanilang pagmamahal sa bayan, paggalang sa karapatang pantao at pagsunod sa batas.

Ikinatuwa rin ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang desisyon ng mababang kapulungan.

Ayon kay AFP spokesperson Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo, makatutulong ang ROTC na mahubog ang leadership potentials ng nakababatang henerasyon.

“Today’s young generation needs to be exposed to the rudiments of basic soldiery no matter brief to help develop and hone their leadership potentials,” ani Arevalo.
