Crisologo hinimok ang Kamara na imbestigahan ang pag-aresto sa kanya
Hinikayat ni Quezon City 1st District Rep. Vicente “Bingbong” Crisologo ang Kamara na imbestigahan ang pag-aresto sa kanya gabi bago ang May 13 elections dahil sa umanoy obstruction of justice.
Sa kanyang privilege speech araw ng Lunes sa plenary session, sinabi ni Crisologo na iligal at walang basehan ang pag-aresto sa kanya at kanyang anak na si Frederick at 43 supporters sa Barangay Toro.
“I urge this House to investigate the matter and come up with a law that will further strengthen these rights and prevent the police officers from violating them and imposing heavier penalties that they may fear the law. We should not allow the police officers to shamelessly trample upon our rights and abuse their police authority,” ani Crisologo.
Dagdag ng kongresista, planado ang pag-aresto sa kanya para hindi siya makaboto.
Iginiit ni Crisologo ang immunity nito sa aresto alinsunod sa probisyon ng 1987 Constitution kung saan nakasaad na habang may sesyon ang Kongreso ay hindi pwedeng arestuhin ang Senador o miyembro ng House of Representatives sa kasong mahigit 6 na taon ang parusang kulong.
Bagamat naka break ang Kongreso mula February 9 hanggang May 19, sinabi ni Crisologo na nasa sesyon pa rin ang Kamara noong May 12 dahil mayroon mga committee hearings.
Matatandaan na inaresto si Crisologo dahil sa umanoy vote buying pero nilinaw kalaunan ng PNP na ito ay dahil sa obstruction of justice.
Si Crisologo ay tinalo ni Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte sa natapos na halalan bilang alkalde ng Quezon City.
