Status ng AFP itinaas sa red alert para sa May 13 elections

Nakataas na ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa red alert status kasunod ng nalalapit na May 13 midterm electons.

Sa inilabas na pahayag, sinabi ni AFP chief Gen. Benjamin Madrigal na nagsimula ang red alert status bandang alas 8:00, Biyernes ng umaga.

Layon aniya nitong matiyak na handa ang kanilang hanay sa pagresponde sa anumang banta o emergency.

Nasa kabuuang 98,000 sundalao ang ipakakalat para asistihan ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) at Philippine National Police (PNP) sa mismong araw ng halalan.

Halos 1,200 na lugar naman sa bansa ang idineklarang election hotspot ng Comelec.
