Comelec: Election hotspots mahigit 1,000 na
Umabot na sa 1,196 ang mga lugar na tinukoy ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) bilang election hotspots.
Nakasaad sa Comelec en banc Resolution No. 10531 na may petsang May 6, 2019, ang bagong listahan, na sakop ang National Capital Region, Luzon at Visayas, ay inirekomenda ng Committee on the Ban of Firearms and Security Personnel alinsunod sa opisyal na ulat mula sa lahat ng regional joint security control centers.
Una nang inilagay sa ilalim ng election hotspots bilang category red o areas of grave concern ang lahat ng lugar sa Mindanao.
Tatlong lugar naman ang nananataling nasa ilalim ng Comelec control, ang Daraga City sa Albay, Cotabato City at ang bayan ng Moises Padilla sa Negros Occidental.
Ang naturang mga lugar ay inilagay sa direktang kontrol at supervision ng poll body dahil sa kasaysayan ng mainit na away-pulitika na pwedeg magresulta sa karahasan.
Sa 1,196 hotspots, nasa 85 na lugar ang nasa ilalim ng category red o areas of grave concern.
Nasa 706 na lugar naman ang category green o generally peaceful and orderly habang ang natitirang mga lugar ay nasa category yellow o areas of concern o category orange na areas of immediate concern.
