BI: Higit 7,000 Pinoy hindi pinayagang makaalis ng bansa noong Q1

Higit 7,000 Filipino ang hindi pinayagang makalabas ng bansa sa unang kwarter ng taon ayon sa Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Sa pahayag araw ng Martes (May 7), sinabi ng BI na ito ay dahil sa mas maigting na kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa human trafficking.

Ayon kay BI Port Operations Division Chief Grifton Medina, ang 7,311 pasahero ay pinigilang makaalis dahil sa kabiguang makapag-comply sa mga requirements.

Maingat umano ang ahensya sa isinasagawang assessment sa mga aalis ng bansa upang masigurong hindi sila mabibiktima ng human traffickers at illegal recruiters.

“We have been very careful in assessing these travelers as we wanted to ensure that they will not be victimized by human traffickers and illegal recruiters,” ani Medina.

Dagdag pa ni Medina, sinunod ng BI ang screening procedures na itinakda ng Department of Justice (DOJ).

Hindi naman anya ibig sabihin na ang mga hindi na pinayagan ay hindi na talaga makakalabas ng bansa.

Kailangan lamang anya na makasunod ang mga ito sa requirements na itinakda ng Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) na layong protektahan ang mga Filipino laban sa mga mapansamantala abroad.
