Locsin iginiit ang May 15 deadline para ibalik ang basura ng Canada
Nais ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddyboy Locsin na kunin pa rin ng Canada ang kanilang mga basura sa May 15, ang petsang itinakda ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
“The deadline is May 15. Period. I don’t give two fucks what DOF says…The President expects the garbage to be seaborne by May 15. That expectation will be met or else…,” ani Locsin sa kanyang tweets araw ng Martes.
Ang pahayag ni Locsin ay matapos sabihin ng Department of Finance na handa ang Pilipinas na ibalik ang mga basura sa Canada gayunman ay kailangan ng naturang bansa ng mas mahabang panahon para iproseso ang pagkuha nito.
Dahil dito ay posibleng hindi maabot ng Canada ang May 15 deadline na itinakda ng pangulo.
“However, despite the Philippine government’s readiness to reexport the wastes, the Canadian government informed that it might take weeks for them to arrange the necessary documents from their end and that they might not meet the May 15 deadline,” ani Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
Magugunitang nagbanta si Pangulong Duterte ng giyera laban sa Canada kapag hindi nito kinuha ang kanilang basura.
Sa pulong balitaan araw ng Martes, sinabi ni presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo na sakaling hindi matupad ng Canada ang May 15 na deadline ng pangulo ay ipapatapon sa mga karagatan ng Canada ang mga basura.
“The President gave May 15 as the deadline. If they cannot get that then we will be shipping them out and throw them to the shores or beach of Canada,” ani Panelo.
