Pilipinas hindi na tatanggap ng anumang basura galing saanmang bansa

Wala nang balak si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na tumangap ng anumang uri ng basura o waste materials mula saanmang bansa.

Pahayag ito ng pangulo sa 37th Cabinet Meeting kagabi (May 6) sa Malakanyang.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, inatasan na ni Pangulong Duterte ang lahat ng sangay ng pamahalaan na huwag nang pumayag na tumanggap ng basura.

Ayon kay Panelo, mariin ang paninindigan ni Pangulong Duterte na hindi garbage collector ang Pilipinas.

Kasabay nito, nangako ang gobyerno ng Canada na aakuin na nila ang lahat ng gastos sa pagkuha ng 69 waste containers na itinapon sa bansa noong 2013.

Ayon kay Panelo ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang nagpaabot ng mensahe ng Canada sa cabinet meeting.

“On the issue of garbage from Canada, the DFA and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources noted that the Canadian government is committed to shoulder all the expenses to ship out all the 69 waste containers. The President is firm that we are not garbage collectors, thus he ordered that the Philippines will no longer accept any waste from any country,” ayon kay Panelo.

Matatandaan na aabot sa 103 na containers ang itinapon ng Canada sa bansa noong 2013 at 2014 kung saan karamihan sa mga basura ay mga diaper, plastic bottle at iba.
