MRT-3 Rehabilitation Project simula na ngayong araw
Aarangkada na ngayong araw, May 1, ang MRT-3 Rehabilitation Project ayon mismo sa Department of Transporation (DOTr).
Masayang ibinahagi ng DOTr ang balita araw ng Martes, April 30 matapos opisyal na ipaubaya sa Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)-TES Philippines (TESP) ang malawakang rehabilitasyon at maintenance works sa train line.
Pinangunahan ni DOTr Usec. Timothy John Batan ang ceremonial turnover ng mga dokumento kasama ang mga opisyales ng Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), MRT-3, at Sumitomo-MHI-TESP.
Kabilang sa mga aayusin at imimintena sa linya ng tren ang electromechanical components, power supply system, rail tracks, depot equipment, elevators at escalators sa lahat ng istasyon.
Sasailalim din sa overhaul ang 72 light rail vehicles (LRVs).
Inaasahang matatapos ang rehabilitation works sa loob ng unang 26 na buwan ng 43-month rehabilitation and maintenance contract.
Target ng MRT-3 na madagdagan ang bumabyaheng tren mula 15 sa 20, at maiakyat ang operating speed sa 60 kilometers per hour.
Inaasahang ang pito hanggang 10 minutong travel time sa pagitan ng mga tren ay magiging 3.5 minutes na lamang matapos ang rehabilitasyon.
