Comelec pinayagan ang ACT Teachers party-list members na maging electoral boards

Pinayagan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc ang mga guro sa mga pampublikong eskwelahan na mga miyembro ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers-Philippines (ACT) party-list na magsilbi sa May 13 elections bilang Electoral Boards (EBs).

Sa Comelec Resolution No. 19-0255, sinabi ng Comelec na mas pinipili ang public school teachers sa pagtalaga ng mga miyembro ng EBs at ang pagiging miyembro ng ng party-list ay hindi ground sa disqualification.

“The Commission has no basis to disqualify public school teachers who are members of the ACT party-list in serving as Electoral Boards for purposes of the 13 May 2019 National and Local Elections,” nakasaad sa resolusyon.

Ito ay kasunod ng petisyon ni Mohammad Omar Albano Fajardo ng Tao Muna party-list na humiling sa Comelec na huwag italaga ang mga public school teachers na mga miyembro ng ACT Teachers party-list dahil iligal umano ito at may pakinabang sa grupo.

Sinabi ng Comelec na bagamat walang basehan sa ngayon ang alegasyon ni Fajardo, ang lalabag sa batas sa eleksyon ay may administrative penalties matapos ang notice at hearing.

Giit ng poll body, dapat istriktong ipatupad ang Comelec Resolution No. 10460 sakaling magkaroon ng partisan politics sa pagiging Electoral Boards ng mga guro.
