Ayala: Multa sa Manila Water hindi ipapasa sa consumers

Hindi ipapasa ng Manila Water sa kanilang customers ang multang ipinataw sa kanila ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) dahil sa naranasang water crisis.

Ito ang tiniyak mismo ni Ayala Corporation president Fernando Zobel de Ayala sa annual stockholder’s meeting ng kumpanya.

Nahaharap ang Manila Water sa P534 milyong multa at P600 milyong pondo ang ipinagagastos para sa isang bagong pagkukunan ng tubig.

Ayon kay Ayala, ang halagang kanilang babayaran ay malaki ngunit napagdesisyunan ng board na tanggapin na lamang ito at ang kumpanya ay dapat nang umusad.

“The amount we’re going to pay are large but when we discussed it with the board, we basically decided its probably more important to just accept it and move forward,” ani Ayala.

“I think it’s best we pay the fine. It would not be passed on to consumers, we will have to absorb it as a company and we move forward from here,” dagdag pa nito.

Samantala, muling humingi ng paumanhin si Ayala sa nangyaring water service interruption ngunit iginiit na matagal na silang nagbabala tungkol dito dahil walang bagong water source na binuo para sa Metro Manila.

Noon pa anyang 2012 ay humihiling na sila ng bagong pagkukunan ng tubig sa MWSS.

Nauna nang iginiit ng Manila Water na hindi na sapat ang alokasyong nakukuha nila mula sa Angat Dam dahil sa pagdami ng kanilang customers.
