Ayon kay Nestor Mayo, deputy chief for assistance sa Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), walang naiulat na nasaktan on pinsala sa ari-arian ng mga Pinoy na nakatira at nagtatrabaho sa Taiwan.
“Our Filcom (Filipino community) leaders continue to monitor and will update me as soon as any untoward incident affects our fellowmen,” ani Mayo.
Niyanig ng lindol ang coastal area na Hualien na nagpa-uga sa mga gusali at pansamantalang nagpatigil sa operasyon ng subway services sa Taipei.
Unang naitala ng United States Geological Survey (USGS) ang magnitude ng lindol sa 6.4 na tumama sa lalim na 15 kilometro.
Ang Taiwan ay nasa pagitan ng 2 tectonic plates at prone ang bansa sa lindol.
