Pilipinas ipoprotesta ang paghakot ng China ng ‘giant clams’ sa Panatag Shoal

Ipoprotesta ng Pilipinas ang ilegal na pagkuha ng China ng “giant clams” o malalaking tulya at pagsira sa corals o bahura sa Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal.

Matatandaan na sinakop ng Chinese forces ang naturang teritoryo noong 2012 makalipas ang 2 buwang standoff sa Philippine Navy.

Ayon kay Foreign Affairs Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr., naghahanda na ang legal office ng ahensya para sa kaso laban sa China dahil sa seryosong pinsala sa bahura.

“We just caught them doing that recently, filed a diplomatic note, and will be taking legal action,” pahayag ni Locsin sa Twitter.

Sa isang panayam ay sinabi ng Kalihim na nakumpirma ng National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea ang pinsalang dulot ng mga aktibidad ng mga barko ng China sa Panatag Shoal.

“We protest this. We said this is illegal and in fact you (China) are also violating conventions on environmental protection for which we can take legal action. They have basically destroyed breeding grounds,” dagdag ni Locsin.

Samantala, suportado naman ng Malakanyang ang hakbang ng DFA.

Iginiit ni Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo na pag-aari ng Pilipinas ang lugar at panghihimasok ang ginawa ng Chinese vessels.

“As far as we’re concerned, that (Panatag Shoal) is ours. We will be objecting to any intrusion to our own territory,” ani Panelo.
