Conviction rate ng PDEA sa drug cases tumaas sa 81% noong 2018

Tumaas sa 81.82 percent ang conviction ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) sa mga kasong may kinalaman sa droga noong 2018.

Ito ay nangangahulugan na 13,111 sa 16,024 na naresolbang mga kaso ang nagtapos sa conviction.

Ang conviction rate ay 46.62 percentage points o 113 percent na mas mataas kumpara sa 35 percent noong 2017.

Ayon kay PDEA director general Aaron Aquino, ang pagtaas ng conviction rate ay dahil sa aktibong partisipasyon ng mga abogado ng ahensya sa pretrial proceedings ng mga drug cases.

Marami anyang kaso ang nabasura o naging “indeterminately delayed” dahil sa kabiguan ng ilang prosecutors na samantalahin ang “pretrial measures” at “remedies.”

Binanggit din ni Aquino na dahilan ng pagtaas ng conviction rate ang Project Court Watch program ng PDEA na gumagamit ng “case monitors” para imonitor ang mga kaso sa iba’t ibang regional offices ng ahensya.
