Ayon kay Larry Fernandez, Meralco utility economics head, apektado ng ipinapatupad na yellow at red alerts sa Luzon grid ang presyo ng kuryente sa spot market.
Ngayong buwan anya ng Abril ay mayroong 6 na araw na apektado ng yellow alert at 4 na araw na itinaas ang red alert na nagkaroon ng kaukulang epketo sa spot market price.
Araw ng Lunes ay muling naging manipis ang reserbang kuryente sa Luzon kaya isinailalim ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) ang Luzon Grid sa red alert na ibinaba sa yellow alert hanggang alas 8:00 ng gabi.
Bagamat tiniyak ng Meralco at Department of Energy ang sapat na reserbang kuryente sa Huwebes at Biyernes Santo dahil sa pagbaba ng demand, hinikayat pa rin ang publiko na magtipid sa kuryente dahil hindi pa masyadong matatag ang supply sa Luzon grid.
