Mount Samat National Shrine sa Bataan, smoke-free na

Paalala sa mga nagbabalak umakyat ng Mount Samat National Shrine sa Bataan ngayong Semana Santa, huwag nang magdala ng sigarilyo.

Ito ay dahil sa deklarado na ng Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance at SmokeFree Cities Asia Pacific Network ang Mount Samat o mas kilala bilang Dambana ng Kagitingan o Shrine of Valor sa bayan ng Pilar na “Shrine of Smoke-free Philippines.”

Nabatid na sina Bataan Congressman Jose Enrique Garcia III at Pilar Mayor Alice Pizzaro ang nagsulong na maging smoke-free ang Mount Samat na naging dambana ng mga bayaning sundalo na nakipaglaban noong World War II.

Mismong si Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina ng Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) ang tumanggap ng marker noong April 9 o Araw ng Kagitingan.

Dahil sa deklarado nang smoke-free ang dambana, mahigpit nang ipagbabawal ang paninigarilyo sa lugar.
