Nanindigan ang China na mali ang ginagawang pag-angkin ng ilang mga claimant-countries sa mga pinag-aagawang isla sa South China Sea.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kan na hindi magbabago ang kanilang paninindigan na China ang siyang may sakop sa nasabing mga isla.
“We have taken note of those remarks made by the Philippine officials…The Nansha (Spratly) Islands are within China’s territory, for which we have sufficient historical and legal basis,” ayon sa Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Gayunman, umaasa ang opisyal na mananatiling tahimik ang sitwasyon sa South China Sea at nakahanda umano silang makipag-usap sa mga bansang naghahabol ng teritoryo sa lugar.
Dagdag pa ni Lu, “We are committed to upholding peace and stability in the South China Sea in concert with other regional countries.”
Bukod sa Pilipinas at China, kabilang rin sa mga claimant-countries ang Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia at Brunei.
Noong nakalipas na linggo ay muling naghain ng diplomatic protest ang bansa dahil sa paglapit ng ilang Chinese vessels sa Pag-asa (Thitu) Island.
Sa kanyang tweet, nanindigan naman si Foreign Affairs Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr. na pag-aari ng Pilipinas ang mga islang sakop sakop ngayon ng bansa sa West Philippine Sea.
Ayon pa kay Locsin “The stand is that it is ours. And they took it. World’s highest court ruled that. Period.”
Dagdag pa ng opisyal, “Now the question is how to take it back. I personally have no fear of war.”
