Sandy Arespacochaga bagong head coach ng Batang Gilas
May bago nang head coach ang Batang Gilas na sasabak sa Fiba World Cup under-19 tournament sa buwan ng Hunyo.
Ito ang inanunsyo ni Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas President Al Panlilio.
Si Sandy Arespacochaga ang siyang tatayong head coach ng pambato ng bansa at siya rin ang mamumuno sa delagasyon ng bansa sa Fiba Asia Championships under-16.
Si Arespacochaga ang dating coach ng Ateneo Blue Eaglets na nanalo sa UAAP juniors championship noong 1999 at 2000 at naging bahagi rin ng Gilas program bilang assistant coach and scout.
Sinabi ni Panlilio na malaki ang tyansa ng bansa na makapg-uwi ng medalya sa nasabing liga dahil sa husay ni Arespacochaga na mag-giya sa kanyang team.
“Sandy has proven his worth as a youth basketball coach. He has won championships in the high school-level and has been an active member of the highly successful Ateneo college basketball program,” dagdag pa ni Panlilio.
