Alkalde ng Lobo, Batangas ipinag-utos ang pagpapalayas sa dredging vessel

Ipinag-utos ni Lobo, Batangas Mayor Jurly Manalo sa Philippine Coast Guard ang pagpapalayas sa barko na inirereklamo dahil sa dredging activities na ginagawa nito sa Lobo River.

Magugunitang noong Biyernes, March 29, iniulat ng barangay officials ang dredging activities ng MV Emerald ng Seagate Engineering and Buildsystems.

Ayon kay Manalo, nagsabi ang kumpanya na may kontrata sila sa lokal na pamahalaan noon pang 2008 ngunit ngayon lamang sila dumating.

May dala rin umano itong environmental compliance certificate (ECC) ngunit ayon kay Manalo ay wala naman silang inaprubahang dredging activities.

Nababahala ang alkalde na masira ang corals ng Lobo lalo’y isang agro-ecotourism destination na aprubado ng Department of Tourism (DOT).

Anya, ang Verde Island Passage ay sentro ng marine biodiversity at walang kahit sinong mayor ang papayag na masira ito.

Nauna nang sinuspinde ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang ECC ng MV Emerald dahil umano sa kakulangan ng mga dokumento.

Ayon kay Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda sakaling hindi talaga maganda sa kalikasan ang dulot ng proyekto ay hindi ito papayagan.
