Karapatan ng LGBT Community sa QC, tiniyak ni Belmonte

“You can call Quezon City your home”

Ito ang naging pahayag ni Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte para tiyaking protektado ang karapatan ng mga miyembro ng Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender o LGBT Community sa Quezon City.

Ayon kay Belmonte, nais nitong gawin na isang ‘millenial city’ ang Quezon City na magiging bukas sa mga bagong pamamaraan at ideya mula sa mga kabataan sa lungsod.

Giit pa ng bise alkalde, ang Quezon City ang kauna-unahang lungsod na nagkaroon ng Quezon City Gender-Fair ordinance hinggil sa karapatan ng LGBT community.

Sa naturang ordinansa, pinagbabawal ang anumang uri ng diskriminasyon pagdating sa sekswalidad ng isang tao.

“It is a clear message to everyone that Quezon City discriminates no one, and the city government assures every citizen that your rights will be protected whatever your sexual orientation is,” pahayag ni Belmonte.

Sinumang mapatunayang lumabag sa naturang ordinansa, posibleng makulong nang hindi bababa sa 60 araw hanggang isang taon o pagbabayad ng multang P1,000 hanggang P5,000.
