Mt. Carmel Shrine sa QC, isa nang Minor Basilica
Pormal nang idineklara bilang isang Minor Basilica ang National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel sa New Manila, Quezon City.
Ang Solemn Declaration sa pagiging Minor Basilica ng dambana ay pinangunahan ni Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco Lunes ng gabi.
Sa kanyang homilya, sinabi ni Bishop Ongtioco na sinumang bibisita sa bagong Basilica Minore ay makatatanggap ng kaparehong biyaya na natatanggap ng mga nagsasagawa ng pilgrimage sa Roma.
“A minor Basilica in our midst is literally an edifice for the poor. I say this because those who enter this Basilica will receive the same benefits, the same graces that are received by those who go in pilgrimage to Rome”, ani Ongtioco.
Sa pagpasok anya sa bagong Minor Basilica ay nakakaengkwentro ang Diyos at nakikipag-isa ang bayan sa Kanya.
Ang ‘Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel’ ay ang unang Basilica ng Quezon City at ika-15 naman sa buong Pilipinas.
Noong Disyembre, inanunsyo ang pag-apruba ng Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments sa Vatican sa pagiging Basilica Minore ng dambana.
